The important thing is that our Chinese civilization has been unprecedented in modern times. In the past, some people called it a great change that has not been seen in 3,000 years, but now we say a great change that has not been seen in a century. In fact, in modern times, it has been a huge change that has not been seen in 3,000 years. So, what we are facing outside is the comprehensive challenge of Eastern civilization. So inside, our Chinese civilization has also experienced spring, summer, autumn and winter, and a comprehensive crisis has emerged, and has developed to a stage like a cold winter. The most prominent thing is the loss of the subjectivity of Chinese civilization, the fall of Taoism, and the rupture of academic discipline. Especially after the May Fourth New Civilization Movement, the historical civilization tradition that has been interrupted for thousands of years. So contemporary society has collapsed and suffered great joys and learning is absolutely true. In general, it can be said that it has embarked on a kind of overgrowth. Therefore, Master Mo Mu once said: The reaction of the 1911 people, the creation of the country, the political system changed from the upper and the Tao system changed from the lower. Then, the new civilization movement began to be launched, criticizing Confucius and defeating Confucius and destroying Confucius’ stores. So this has formed our society in China. Since the beginning of the early years of the people, there has been no lord above and no lord below. Then, the whole society has solved the traditional society, and this society is in the middle level of the scholars and doctors, and it is gone. This has formed this full-panel overturn, causing this breakdown in our political, Taoist and academic disciplines. So what we say is that the most prominent manifestation of this “learning ultimate truth” is that after the country, in our modern teaching system, without our classic teaching that focuses on “four books and five books” for thousands of years, our Chinese ethnic group has become such a common tribe that abandons the classics of the ethnic group itself. The most important thing is to eliminate the sciences in the late Qing Dynasty, and then to eliminate the reading in the early years of the country.
At the same time, Confucianism has gradually been transformed from a mainstream position for thousands of years, and it has been more than 100 years now. On the one hand, in modern history, we have introduced a large number of Taoism and learning disciplines from the East in a large number of comprehensive ways. Sometimes I can only follow my feelings. Just like transformation and opening up, we say, feeling the rocks and so on. Then, according to your feelings, you often lose your school fees. Then, it failed, got up, paid the school fee, and then paid the school fee, etc.
So why does this happen? What if it is according to Confucius? It is “the big road is hidden”. After the Tao has retreated, our society has no Taoism, and in today’s words, there is no focus value system. There is no standard for judgement of common understanding of shortness, goodness, beauty and ugliness that the master has publicly recognized. So this is a very big problem.
Above, I will talk about it from several aspects.
First of all, is the reconstruction of the Tao. When it comes to Taoism, of course we must talk about it as our Chinese civilization, our Chinese philosophy and Chinese thinking, especially pay attention to this “Tao”. This is not only Confucianism talks about “Tao”, Taoism talks about “Tao”, Buddhism talks about “Tao”, and all schools and schools talk about this “Tao”. Therefore, “Tao” is the most distinctive and most focused concept of our Chinese civilization.
The “Tao” is ultimately the meaning of the way, but later on, it forms a very complicated concept and a model that includes multiple meanings. We will not discuss it deeply here. Then, having “Tao” and “Tao Sect” is a sect of the continuous development of Tao.
